This webpage acts as a supplement to ENGR101: Engineering Design. Concepts of nanotechnology and liquid crystals are explored using liquid crystal displays (LCDs), micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), and relevant electronic devices. Disassembly of an LCD watch helps students to better understand the effects and phenomena behind liquid crystals and how they function in modern technology. All investigations and design projects are performed in class groups and presented in oral and/or written form. The projects presented on this page can be completed on an individual basis to further enrich the students' education.
