How it works
It takes about 10 seconds to go from zero to full head tracking.
Step 1: Put in your AirPods Pro -- the app detects them automatically.
Step 2: Tap Start Tracking -- head motion data begins streaming at 60-100 Hz.

Tracking Studio
The command center. A live 3D head model mirrors your movement in real time using cinematic studio lighting and physically-based rendering. Below it, you get instant readouts for yaw, pitch, roll, session metrics, and automatic gesture detection.

What it captures:

Mobility Lab

The test walks you through five movements:
- Center -- Establish neutral
- Max Left -- Rotate as far as comfortable
- Max Right -- Rotate the other way
- Max Up -- Tilt head back
- Max Down -- Tilt head forward
Results compare your range to clinical reference maximums and show per-direction breakdowns with visual progress bars. Run the test weekly to track improvement over time.
Research-grade data export
Every tracking session automatically writes a 22-column CSV file. This isn't simplified data -- it's the full sensor payload:

Under the hood
AirPod Head Tracker captures the full sensor payload from Apple's Headphone Motion API:
- Euler Angles -- Yaw, pitch, roll in degrees
- Quaternion -- Full rotation without gimbal lock (x, y, z, w)
- Rotation Rate -- Angular velocity from the gyroscope (rad/s)
- Gravity Vector -- Orientation relative to Earth (g)
- User Acceleration -- Linear acceleration minus gravity (g)
- Magnetic Field -- Magnetometer reading (microteslas)
- Sensor Location -- Which earbud is providing data (left or right)
A 1-second stabilization period at startup discards jittery initial frames, and all tracking values are calibrated relative to your starting position -- so 0/0/0 always means "where you began."
Session metrics tracked automatically:
- Total Movement -- Cumulative Euclidean distance of orientation change
- Tremor Intensity -- Rotation-rate variance over a 30-sample sliding window
- Range of Motion -- Per-session min/max for yaw, pitch, and roll
- Gesture Count -- Nods, shakes, and tilts detected during the session
AirPods info and battery
The More tab shows your AirPods connection in detail:
- Device name and connection status
- Signal strength (RSSI) with quality labels: Excellent, Good, Fair, Weak
- Battery levels for left earbud, right earbud, and charging case
- Full session history with individual or bulk deletion

Head tracking requires a physical device. It is not supported in the iOS Simulator.
